Carol Martsolf, P.E., PMP, CPTD, LEED AP, F.ASCE
Region 2 Director: Carol Martsolf is a graduate of Temple University and a Professional Engineer with 29 years of experience, Ms. Martsolf has utilized her technical expertise and career knowledge to create the Urban Training Institute and develop dynamic training programs. Under her leadership, the Institute quickly evolved into an award-winning and highly-respected institution. She is a former President of the ASCE Philadelphia Section, past Region 2 Governor, and former Chair of Members of Society Advancing an Inclusive Culture (MOSAIC).
Gregory J. Kuklinski, P.E., F.ASCE
Region 2 Governor: Greg received his B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University in 1998 with 20 years of experience in the Transportation field and is a registered Professional Engineer in PA. Greg is a Project Manager at Alfred Benesch & Company in Allentown, PA where he has worked since 2000 as a structural engineer where he manages various bridge and P3 projects for state and local agencies including PENNDOT, Northampton and Lehigh Counties. Greg has served on various Society committees including the Committee on Younger Members (CYM), Committee on Geographic Units (CGU) and most recently the Leader Training Committee (LTC) all from 2006-2020. His primary responsibilities on those committees was planning the Presidents and Governors Forum and assisting with the planning of the Region 1, 2, 4 and 5 Multi-Regional Leadership Conference. He has served in various roles on the Lehigh Valley Section Board since graduation including Associate Member Director and Secretary. Greg is currently the Practitioner Advisor for the Lehigh University Student Chapter, a Region 2 Governor, a Corresponding Member on the Leader Training Committee and a Member on the Task Committee for Geographic Assessment of Programs and Support.
Region 2 Governor: John is a Project Manager/Senior Highway Engineer at CDR Maguire Engineering in Allentown and has 20 years of experience focusing on PennDOT Transportation projects in eastern Pennsylvania. John’s current ASCE involvement includes serving as the Treasurer for the Pennsylvania State Council and President of the Reading Branch. John is a Past President of the Lehigh Valley Section and continues to serve as the Legislative Affairs Committee Chair for the Section. John served as the Co-Chair for the 2018 Pennsylvania Infrastructure Report Card. John graduated with an Associates Degree in Engineering Science from Montgomery County Community College and his Bachelors in Civil Engineering Technology from Temple University.
Region 2 Governor: John received his B.E. Degree in Civil Engineering and his ME Degree in Environmental Engineering both from Manhattan College, and an MBA Degree from George Washington University. John has over 45 years of experience in the Environmental Engineering field and is a registered Professional Engineer in VA and Board-Certified Environmental Engineer. John has worked in the academic, government, consulting, and non-profit organizations. From 1998 to 2018 he was employed with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) as a Director for Technical Activities Committees, the Civil Engineering Certification, Inc., and as the first Director for the Utility Engineering and Surveying Institute (UESI). John was also active with ABET for 30 years serving as a Program Evaluator for Engineering and Engineering Technology Programs.
Michelle Madzelan, P.E., F.ASCE
Region 2 Governor: Michelle is a Senior Transportation Manager at ELA Group, Inc in Lititz, PA focusing on traffic and transportation engineering design and PennDOT permitting for Municipal and land development projects with over 20 years of experience. Michelle is a past president of Central PA Section and served as the 2022 Co-Chair of Pennsylvania Report Card. Michelle’s current local ASCE involvement includes Central PA Section Director of Member Services, Co-Chair of Transportation Technical Group, York College Practitioner Advisor, and Central Pennsylvania Engineers Week Council (CPEWC) Representative. Michelle is also a member of the PA State Council that focuses on Legislative Advocacy. Michelle also serves on the ASCE National Convention Technical Program Subcommittee that plans the technical portion of the National Convention. Michelle was recently awarded the 2023 Engineer of the Year by the CPEWC and Women of Influence by the Central Pennsylvania Business Journal.
Region 2 Governor: Joseph Platt graduated from Widener University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He has worked at Traffic Planning and Design, Inc. since 2001 and is currently the Vice President of Traffic Engineering. Mr. Platt has been very involved in ASCE since college. He was the President of the Philadelphia YMF from 2007-2008 and the President of the Philadelphia section from 2014-2015. Additionally, he was the co-chair of the Eastern Region Younger Member Council in 2008.
Elizabeth Wheeler, P.E., M.ASCE
Region 2 Governor: Elizabeth Wheeler is a graduate of Clemson University with a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering and an emphasis in structures. She is currently a Project Manager for Mosaic Engineering in the Virginia office and is a registered engineer in multiple states. She is active in both the professional and humanitarian community, having served numerous roles in various organizations, including Director, Vice President, and President for the National Capitol Section of the American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE). During her spare time, Elizabeth enjoys reading, running, and riding horses.
Danielle Schroeder, P.E., Env. SP, M.ASCE
Region 2 Communications: Danielle (she/her/hers) currently works as a Transportation Engineer for Gannett Fleming, Inc. in their Philadelphia office. She graduated from Drexel University in 2017 and received her B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering through their accelerated degree program. Danielle has been active with ASCE since 2012 when she joined her first year of college. At the society level for ASCE, Danielle is the Vice-Chair for the Committee on Developing Leaders and is the ASCE representative on the Board of Directors for the Renewable Natural Resources Foundation. She has held several leadership roles at the ASCE Younger Member level culminating in the role of YMG President. Outside of ASCE, she serves as an elected director for the Drexel Alumni Board of Governors. For her work with these organizations and her extensive outreach work, Danielle was honored as one of ASCE’s New Faces of Civil Engineering in 2021. Danielle focuses on the rehabilitation of the physical infrastructure of our past through her job and inspires the minds of our future through her STEM Outreach. In her spare time, Danielle enjoys traveling, snowboarding, playing tennis, and taking long walks with her partner, Doug, and their rescue dog, Nemo.
ARegion 2 Younger Member Representative: Andrew Kline (he/him/his) is a younger member and graduate of Villanova University in the class of 2024 with a BSCE (May) and an MSCE (December). During his time as a student member, he served in a variety of roles in his student chapter including President, and he served as the President of the ASCE Student Presidential Group (SPG) in it's first year as an official committee. In ASCE, Andrew is involved in a wide variety of groups and committees including serving on the Leader Training Committee (LTC), as President of the Reading Branch, and as a Director for the Lehigh Valley Section. Professionally, Andrew works at TPD Inc. as a Planning Specialist out of the company's Pottstown, PA office.
