Region 7 Director's Report

Region 7 DirectorGreetings to you all!

Let me introduce myself: I’m Erin Steever and am thrilled to be the Region 7 Director for 2022-2025.  For some background, prior to becoming Director, I completed two consecutive terms as Region 7 Governor representing Iowa and South Dakota.  I am a registered professional engineer in South Dakota, and I have been working in the water and wastewater discipline for 20 years now, writing Preliminary Engineering Reports to fulfill funding requirements and designing collection and distribution systems, water towers, treatment systems and pump stations. A am also the editor of the Source to Stream, a water and wastewater focused quarterly publication sponsored by three South Dakota associations.  I welcome you to read more about my vision and my background on the Contacts tab.

In case you didn't know, our current Society President, Marsia Geldert-Murphey, hails from Region 7.  She is a native to South Dakota, growing up in Rapid City and graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from South Dakota State University before moving to the St Louis area.  We are so proud of her, she has achieved so much over her career and rising to Society leadership is a first for a South Dakotan.

There is a lot going on in ASCE these days, including Cities of the Future (a new giant screen feature - see citiesofthefuturefilm.com for more information and to see if it's playing at a theater near you), potential changes to ASCE's membership grades (LTC has a webinar on that), the Region 7 Assembly meeting later this summer, and more!  Get involved - with your Section or Branch, with Region 7, and at the Society Level.  If there is anything I can do to support you, please reach out to me at [email protected]

Sincerely,

Erin Steever
