Mr. Ryan Berg, P.E., D.GE, F.ASCE receives the 2021 Martin S. Kapp Foundation Engineering Award

Mr. Ryan Berg, P.E., D.GE, F.ASCE has been selected by the ASCE’s Geo-Institute to receive the 2021 Martin S. Kapp Foundation Engineering Award for “his expertise in geosynthetic-reinforced earthworks and retaining structures and for his lifelong contributions to the developments and applications of MSE walls, which helped create innovative solutions for practical problems.” Congratulations Mr. Berg for this honor!

Dr. Erol Tutumluer, Ph.D., M.ASCE receives the 2021 Carl L. Monismith Lecture Award

Dr. Erol Tutumluer, Ph.D., M.ASCE has been selected by the G-I Board of Governors to receive the 2021 Carl L. Monismith Lecture for “his unique contribution to our industry studying practical implications of geotechnical/pavement foundation issues in pavement design and performance, and work on advanced and mechanistic based modeling of geomechanical and pavement systems.” Congratulations Dr. Tutumleur for this honor!

ASCE Wisconsin Section’s Ryan Betker Recognized as Fox Cities area 15 Outstanding Young Professionals 

The ASCE Wisconsin Section would like to congratulate Ryan Betker, P.E. M.ASCE in being honored as one of the 15 Outstanding Young Professionals from the Fox Cities area. This is an award presented by the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce to honor young professionals for their professional dedication, strong sense of vision for the future of the Fox Cities and personal commitment to philanthropy in the community they call home and beyond. 

Ryan has been an active member in the Fox River Valley Branch since graduating from Michigan Tech in 2002. He has been a Younger Member Group president, a branch director and branch president of the Fox River Valley Branch, working to guide the branch for over 10 years. He attributes a great deal of his success to the professional development and leadership training provided by ASCE

ASCE Wisconsin Section Outstanding Senior Civil Engineering Student Awards

The ASCE Wisconsin Section is pleased to recognize the following recipients for the 2020 Outstanding Senior Civil Engineering Student Awards:

  • Amanda Elizabeth Kaiser, University of Wisconsin–Platteville Amanda graduated in 2019 with an excellent GPA and a very active service record with her ASCE Chapter. She coordinated recurring volunteer efforts including highway clean-up events each semester and bi-yearly work at local homes under construction with Habitat for Humanity. Amanda begins graduate studies this year and is currently employed as a structural engineer with Computerized Structural Design in Milwaukee. 
  • Luke Royal, University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee Luke Royal has an impressive academic and service history, and received the following recommendation from his professor: “Based on my observations and almost multi-years’ experience of working with Luke, I can unreservedly nominate him for the ASCE award. His dedication and passion for research, engineering, challenges, and learning new materials and test methods would most certainly be an advantage for his success in accomplishing all of his academic and professional goals. Dr. Erol Tutumluer, Ph.D., M.ASCE from the East Branch of the Central Illinois Section has been selected by the ASCE Transportation and Development Institute to receive the  2020 James Laurie Prize for “career contributions to the advancement of transportation engineering in the field of transportation geotechnics, which provides key knowledge to building sustainable pavement and railroad track infrastructure.” Congratulations Dr Tutumluer on this honor!

Dr. John S. Gulliver, Ph.D., P.E., D.WRE, F.ASCE from the Minnesota Section has been selected by the ASCE Environmental and Water Resources Institute to receive the  2020 Hunter Rouse Hydraulic Engineering Award for “over three decades of service in bringing water quality into the field of hydraulic engineering, education engineering students, authoring prominent textbooks and handbooks and serving engineering practice.”

ASCE Wisconsin Section’s Ken Mika Recognized as Green Bay Chamber’s Future 15 Finalist

The ASCE Wisconsin Section is proud to announce that Section President Kenneth Mika, P.E. of Geosyntec Consultants has been announced as a Future 15 finalist by the Current Young Professionals and the Greater Green Bay Chamber.

 Current Young Professionals annually recognizes the accomplishments of talented young professionals who make an impact within the community with its Future 15 & Young Professional Awards, which annually profiles 15 area young professionals who are growing and excelling in their respective fields. These individuals are currently influencing the growth, prosperity and quality of life in Greater Green Bay and demonstrate the ability to positively impact the area in the future through professional accomplishments and community involvement.

 

Ken has actively served ASCE in Wisconsin in various capacities since 2009. He is a Project Engineer based in Green Bay with twelve years of professional experience in civil and environmental engineering, construction administration and management, construction oversight and quality assurance for environmental, energy, and municipal projects. Ken’s previous awards include the ASCE Distinguished Service Award (2019), STEM Forward Young Engineer of the Year (2018), Distinguished and Outstanding Alumni Award from the University of Wisconsin Platteville (2018), Edmund Friedman Young Engineer Award for Professional Achievement (2016), and ASCE New Faces of Engineering (2014).
